Baby Proofing Your Home? Here’s What We Like.
If you have stumbled upon this blog post (no pun intended ha!) your baby is probably entering the stage where they are starting to crawl, walk, or stumble all over the place…and sooner than you’d think they’ll start getting into all the things! In this post, I’m going to share what I have found to be the best options for baby-proofing your home, while keeping your baby safe and without compromising the aesthetic of your house (as much as possible).
*The following items are listed in no particular order and are not affiliate linked, they are my honest opinions as I purchased them all. 💯
Simplicity Baby Infant Toddler No Bumps Safety Helmet Head Cushion Bumper Bonnet (in PINK MUSHROOM)
First off, this bumper helmet is adorable with the pink and blue mushrooms! BUT, it also does the job when it comes to protecting baby from bumping into tables and corners around the house (especially in the beginning stages of learning to walk).
We’ve also used it at the park when she was still getting her walking down and it was a nice reassurance for me so I wasn’t completely helicopter mom’ing the whole time.
The only con I would mention is that depending on her mood — she may or may not leave it on. She does this with anything I've tried to put on her head.

Summer Infant — Chatham Post Safety Baby Gate
( Gray Wood Wash Finish and Matte White Metal Frame – 30” Tall, Fits Openings up to 28.5” to 42” Wide, Baby and Pet Gate for Doorways and Stairways )
OMG ya’ll! I couldn’t wait to share THIS GATE! Third times the charm can be SO true sometimes! 😳…I had installed and returned TWO other pressure mount gates prior to finally finding this gem of a gate…and let me tell you…THIS IS THE ONE! Look no further and save yourself the trouble and time of researching gates after reading this post — they also have other colors or other options from this company depending on the size/design that you are looking for. Based on the quality of this gate, I imagine that their other gates would be just as sturdy.
This gate checked off all the markers for me listed below:
STURDY AF!!! Can’t stress this enough! The two gates that I that tried out prior were not study or of solid enough design/construction that I felt safe using it at the top or bottom of our stairs.
Easy install! Like I mentioned above, I had installed two gates prior so I had some practice…I knew what cheap felt like and what I did not want in a baby gate. Immediately upon opening the box and beginning the install, I knew that the gate would be solid and I that my search was over for gates (FINALLY)! lol
Matches the color scheme of our home and is not an eye sore/blends in.
Very functional, has all the needed functions, and is easy to use on the day-to-day grind.
“Hard” to lift up…some may think this is a con of a trait…but I see it as a pro as it is heavy duty and not cheap/flimsy. When family or friends (adults) visit they actually have trouble opening the gate (the first couple times until they figure it out) and call for help getting through! Which to me assures that baby definitely wont be able to open the gates for quite some time.
Cons:
A little more expensive than the two I bought prior (and returned)… buuuuutttt for me I’ll pay the price to keep baby as safe as possible (especially if you are using this for the stairs and do not want to further install the screws to not fuq up your wall ) ….Don’t go cheap on this specific safety product for baby.

Wall Nanny
Wall Nanny pairs amazing with pressure mount gates ^ to ensure further safety and protection for your walls. Depending on your specific measurements you’ll have to figure out which size would work best for your gate. I ended up buying 3 different types, check out your setup to see which would be best for you. There are many different colors as well!

Munchkin Xtraguard Dual Action Multi Use Latches
These are a godsend as they work so well and are SO easy to install. I find the design to be relatively minimal and modern for a baby lock, especially compared to what’s currently out there. I made the mistake of just buying multiple 2-packs, which until writing this post I realized and found an 8-pack for a much better deal! So depending on where you will be needing to place them purchase accordingly. I recommend getting the 8-pack as we are currently using 12 in our kitchen!

Pretty self explanatory — furniture bumpers. For when your little one is just starting to walk and fall everywhere it provides some peace of mind. I got them in oyster white and coffee brown to match our furniture (they also have carry an onyx black color as well).

HEELALBABY — CLEAR Safety Corner Protectors with Thickened Adhesive
(16 L-Shaped+ 8 Ball-Shaped) Baby Proofing Corner Guards, Desk and Furniture Corner Covers for Kids
Different style of corner bumper as these are clear and of a different shape. These are pretty hard (not soft) compared to the ones listed above. These are nice for odd furniture or if you prefer the bumpers to be clear in color.

These are wonderful for those outlets that are in the middle of the wall and you don’t use them much anyways and cheap.

*Important Residue removal TIP:
When you are ready to remove any adhesive products from your furniture, no matter how careful you are while pulling them off you will most likely still have some residue to clean up after. But no worries, as it comes off easily with the use of lemon essential oil (any brand will do) and a rag. Lemon essential oil is a superior product over Goo Gone. Natural products for the win! :)
